I Tried 3 AI Side Hustles in a Week — One Made Me $83

AI is everywhere, and everyone’s suddenly a guru.

You’ve seen the headlines:

• “Make $500/day with ChatGPT!”

• “This AI hustle made me quit my job.”

• “Earn while you sleep — thanks to AI!”

But here’s the truth:
Most of it is noise. Recycled ideas, shady tactics, or things that only work if you already have an audience or $1,000 to spare.

So I decided to cut through the hype and try 3 beginner-friendly AI side hustles in 7 days — no audience, no ads, no upfront investment.

Just me, my laptop, and a lot of caffeine.

By the end of the week, I had:

• Wasted hours on one that overpromised and underdelivered.

• Learned a TON from the second one.

• And made $83 from the second (without selling to friends or begging strangers).

Let’s break it down.

Day 1–2: AI-Powered Faceless YouTube Scripts

The Promise:
Use ChatGPT and other tools to create faceless YouTube videos in hot niches — like finance, celebrity gossip, or AI news.

How It Works (Step-by-Step):

1. Pick a Niche: I chose “Tech News & AI Updates.”

2. Use ChatGPT for Scripts: Prompted ChatGPT with:

3. Generate Voiceovers: Used ElevenLabs (free tier) for realistic text-to-speech.

4. Video Creation: Used Pictory.ai to auto-generate visuals based on the script.

5. Upload to YouTube: Branded the channel quickly using Canva.

Time Spent:

~6 hours total over 2 days

Results:

• Created and uploaded 2 videos

• Views: 43 and 76 respectively

• Revenue: $0 (obviously — no monetization yet)

What I Learned:

• AI makes production 10x easier, but YouTube growth is a long game

• SEO + click-worthy thumbnails matter more than AI alone

• Not a quick hustle, but solid for long-term passive income (once monetized)

Verdict:

Day 3–5: Selling AI-Generated Digital Products (Bingo!)

The Idea: Package AI-generated value into downloadable products and sell them on Gumroad or Payhip.

This is where I hit gold — and made $83.

Step-by-Step:

1. Identified a Pain Point:
   Writers struggling with content ideas and productivity

2. Used ChatGPT to Generate Assets:

• Gumroad discoverability is weak, but Twitter and Reddit worked

Verdict:

Day 6–7: Offering AI Services on Fiverr

The Idea: Sell AI prompt-based microservices — like rewriting bios, summarizing content, or generating tweets.

Setup:

1. Created 3 Gigs:

• Rewrite your LinkedIn Bio with ChatGPT

• Create 10 viral tweets using AI

• Summarize podcast/audio content with Whisper + GPT

2. Pitched in Facebook groups, Upwork communities, and Twitter DMs

3. Waited… and waited…

Time Spent:

~4 hours (gig setup, community outreach, custom offer creation)

Results:

• 0 clients

• 1 inquiry (ghosted)

• 0 revenue

What I Learned:

• Fiverr is not plug-and-play — it takes SEO + reviews

• Microservices can work, but competition is brutal

• You still have to market yourself, even for $5 gigs

Verdict:

Lessons for Anyone Starting with AI Side Hustles:

1. Selling value > selling effort
   No one cares that you used ChatGPT. They care about what it solves.

2. Digital products scale — services don’t (immediately)
   I sold one product once and made $15. Try doing that with a single Fiverr gig.

3. Audience is oxygen
   Even 200 Twitter followers can make you $83 — if you position the offer right.

4. Don’t overthink “originality.”
   People don’t need your invention. They need your version of the solution.
